Animal Assisted Therapy
Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) is an all-volunteer program of Animal Samaritans SPCA, serving school children with disabilities, residents in assisted living centers and nursing homes, and patients recovering in local hospitals. In addition, their Animal Assisted Therapy (AAA) program pairs dogs with youngsters serving time at Juvenile Hall. Therapy animals also make frequent appearances with Animal Samaritans' Humane Education in the schools program. Animal Samaritans' AAT program offers the experience of touching, petting, playing with and experiencing the unconditional affection of a pet.
Dogs in Animals Samaritans AAT and AAA programs must have their Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certificate, and pass behavior testing administered by our AAT program leader(s). To learn more about Animal Samaritans' AAT program contact Animal Samaritans SPCA at 760-601-3758.
