Thousand Palms, CA —

May 12, 2022: Animal Samaritans is pleased to welcome Dr. Dennis W. Macy to its veterinary staff. Dr. Macy is a Board-Certified Internal Medicine and Oncology Veterinary Specialist, with more than forty years of experience caring for animals.
For more than 16 years, Dr. Macy has been serving the oncological needs of pet family members in the Desert.
Starting May 16, Dr. Macy will examine, diagnose, and treat dogs and cats with cancer from Animal Samaritans Veterinary Clinic in Thousand Palms, located at 72120 Pet Land Place. Current and new clients who would like to resume appointments or establish first time appointments with Dr. Macy can call Animal Samaritans pet oncology line at 760.332.5030.
“I’m excited about the change [to Animal Samaritans],” says Dr. Macy. “and a chance to work with a great staff of dedicated professionals. Some I have known for almost two decades.”
As a non-profit organization, Animal Samaritans will allocate a portion of its financial aid programs for pets with cancer. As in human medicine, oncology services for pets can be expensive.
“With the acquisition of Dr. Macy,” notes Animal Samaritans’ CEO Tom Snyder, “we’ve informed our grant writer to focus more attention on support for pet oncology. Our goal is to build a financial aid program specifically to help pet owners struggling to pay for the oncology care of their pets.”
In treating pet cancer patients, Dr. Macy considers the efficacy of treatment as well as the pet’s overall quality of life. In early 2021, Animal Samaritans established much-needed veterinary urgent care services. Today, their urgent care staff is well-suited to assist Dr. Macy.
Animal Samaritans is raising funds to build a new Pet Adoption & Humane Education Center next to their Veterinary Clinic in Thousand Palms, and their plans include an expansion of their veterinary clinic. Included in these plans are designated rooms for pet oncology services.
Animal Samaritans SPCA., a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, started in 1978 and brought the first free Humane Education program and first low-cost spay & neuter clinic to the Desert. As the Coachella Valley’s most comprehensive animal welfare organization, they strive to one day eliminate the needless suffering and abuse of homeless and unwanted animals. Programs and services in place to save the lives of healthy and treatable animals include prevention through humane education, affordable spay and
neuter, vaccinations, and other veterinary care, animal sheltering, animal rescue, pet fostering and pet adoptions. In addition, volunteers from their Animal Companion Therapy program visit special needs classrooms, nursing homes, and local hospitals. Financial Stewardship

We know you have many choices when it comes to how to invest your philanthropic dollars, and Animal Samaritans takes seriously the stewardship of your investment in us.

The Wise Giving Alliance of the Better Business Bureau recommends that nonprofits not spend more than 35 cents on the dollar of its budget on administration and fundraising.

At Animal Samaritans that number is, year over year, close to 10 cents on the dollar. That means the other 90 cents goes to our mission and our services.

That’s just one of the reasons that Animal Samaritans, for more than 4 decades, has been among Southern California’s most trusted animal welfare organizations.

pets. not profits

At our state-of-the-art veterinary clinics, we’re there to provide your animals with the highest quality care, not to make a profit.

Because of your support, we are expanding this mission to broader and more diverse communities.

12,000 Animals saved!

Our Adoption Alliance Rescue Program has saved the lives of more than 12,000 animals. And were just getting started. We work with the local shelters to place animals they do not have the resources or staff to handle.  Thanks to donations like yours, we do!
