COVID-19 Update:

Our shelter is currently open to the public but due to COVID-19 restrictions we are allowing only 2 visitors at a time. All visitors are required to wear a mask and must have a temperature check before entering the building. If the shelter is at full occupancy when you arrive we ask that you remain in your vehicle until we are able to accommodate you. We thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation!

Finding the perfect pet can be easy, but there’s a lot to consider!

Nothing can be more exciting than finding a new furry family member and we want to make the process as fun and enjoyable as possible. That’s why we have adoption counselors on staff to make sure you get the perfect pet for you! Reach out today and start the process!

Frequently Asked Questions
How Long Does the Process Take?

We encourage new parents to spend time playing with their new family members at the shelter.  In addition, there is a short application process to make sure we match the right pet for your home. In most cases adoptions take as little as 2 hours.

How Much Does Adopting Cost?

All dogs & cats are spayed & neutered prior to adoption. Additionally, they will have been provided necessary medical attention, testing, evaluation and all required vaccinations.  Because of this, the fee for adopting cats & kittens is $85.  The cost of adopting dogs & puppies ranges depending on the animal: $125-$400.  Adoption counselors are standing by to help you with the process.  Please give us a call today: 760-601-3918.

Adopting vs. Fostering

While we always want to find every animal a forever home, sometimes members of the Animal Samaritans community provide foster homes to animals until we can find their forever families.  If you’re interested in being a foster parent, please call one of our Adoption Counselors today: 760-601-3918.

Can I Take A Pet Home Directly From the Shelter?

Unless there are special needs of the animal, following approval of your application, your pet should be ready to go home that day!

Will I Need Additional Veterinarian Services?

Like humans, all pets require some health care from time to time, but Animal Samaritans takes care of all the veterinary care your pet will need prior to adoption.

We also provide information resources so you can do your best to keep your pet happy and healthy.

You’ll be able to bring your new furry family member home that day!

Men have forgotten this truth, but must never forget it. You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed.

Financial Stewardship

We know you have many choices when it comes to how to invest your philanthropic dollars, and Animal Samaritans takes seriously the stewardship of your investment in us.

The Wise Giving Alliance of the Better Business Bureau recommends that nonprofits not spend more than 35 cents on the dollar of its budget on administration and fundraising.

At Animal Samaritans that number is, year over year, close to 10 cents on the dollar. That means the other 90 cents goes to our mission and our services.

That’s just one of the reasons that Animal Samaritans, for more than 4 decades, has been among Southern California’s most trusted animal welfare organizations.

pets. not profits

At our state-of-the-art veterinary clinics, we’re there to provide your animals with the highest quality care, not to make a profit.

Because of your support, we are expanding this mission to broader and more diverse communities.

12,000 Animals saved!

Our Adoption Alliance Rescue Program has saved the lives of more than 12,000 animals. And were just getting started. We work with the local shelters to place animals they do not have the resources or staff to handle.  Thanks to donations like yours, we do!
